Albuquerque Wedding Photographer Documenting Real Weddings Since 2006

I am a wedding photographer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico with a natural, documentary approach.

I photograph weddings in Albuquerque and Santa Fe with a calm, documentary approach focused on real interactions, honest emotion, and the natural flow of the day. Timeless, joyful photographs are the foundation of my work, but just as important is how the experience feels. By taking time to understand what matters to you, I work in a way that feels comfortable and unforced—so you can stay present and walk away with photographs that feel true now and meaningful years from now.

Wedding Photography That Feels Real, Not Staged

Documentary wedding photography focuses on real interactions rather than constant posing. This approach allows couples to experience their wedding day naturally, while still having meaningful moments, emotion, and atmosphere thoughtfully documented.

Every wedding has its own rhythm, energy, and story. Rather than showcasing styled shoots or staged moments, my work reflects real weddings and genuine connections — photographed as they naturally unfold.

With Experience That Makes Your Day Easier and more fun!

Experience matters on a wedding day. Photographing weddings throughout New Mexico since 2006 has given me the ability to anticipate moments, adapt to changing timelines, and guide couples calmly without interrupting the flow of the day and take advantage of so many beautiful places and landscapes.

Are you asking your wedding photographer the right questions?

  • The answer to this silly question is so subjective and it begs for “telling you what you want to hear”. Hopefully a photographer doesn’t’ adhere to a cookie cutter set of styles and his answer is: “My photography style will be whatever your wedding guides me to be”

  • You should know by the scope of their work if you are leaning towards that photographer. The better question is: “How many weddings have you photographed ALONE in Albuquerque, and can I see the entire wedding gallery? Not just the photos you want to showcase?”

  • Everyone has an answer ready for this, as a photographer, as a florist or in a job interview. They again, will tell you what you want to hear: “I am so much better!” There is no way to quantify that answer until that photographer is photographing your wedding ceremony - and then it’s too late.

    My answer however is this:

I place more effort than any photographer I know. I am never still, I am never in the same place for more than fifteen seconds, I interact with people, I manage groups better than anyone and your experience with me will definitely be excellent and worth every penny.

  • Absolutely not - however, they are welcomed to shoot alongside myself and provide you with some shots that will add to the perfect images I deliver. In wedding photography, proven experience is what you are looking for -

  • There isn’t one photographer on earth that will not say: “You should hire me right now!” The real answer is: There is no proven number, but better photographers book sooner, although I have many times been hired for a wedding days before, and I was available!

  • Of course I can - but I won’t. Why? Because i truly find every person I see through the lens beautiful and unique. This is how you looked on this date, during this occasion and you looked proud, and happy and full of joy - you would like to see that exactly, not some altered version that you (and everyone else) know is not real.

  • Yes - cameras today are absolute craziness, and they are cool and do all kinds of things - in the end, any camera is adjusting light vs. time and ANY camera with the ability to adjust these two manually will have amazing results.

One thing that a camera can not do better is :composition” that is a talent that comes from creativity and imagination, not technology.

In any case, the answer is also subjective.

A better question if you are going to ask about equipment would be:: “What LENSES do you use” - pertaining to the clarity of the images which definitely matter based on the quality of the lens. And if you are very familiar with photography and brands and f-stops and depth of fields, you will immediately understand the answer.

Questions that really matter:

  • ABSOLUTELY! Doesn’t matter if he is the macho type, a diesel mechanic or manages an art gallery - his hands should be impeccable for that one photo I take of your beautiful hands gently placing his wedding ring on his finger! Please schedule it right now!

  • Of course they should. And by early that means hours before your ceremony start time. You should have breakfast together, envision your day together, have a mimosa and a breakfast burrito together and get in “wedding mode” right away. This will make a HUGE difference in your pictures.

  • This is your wedding day. Every memory from it in three years has to be positive and joyful. This is also the time when you decide that you are in charge of your marriage and your life. Today is a round table, tomorrow is how to name your first child. Stick to your guns and go with your gut - it works every time!

  • Absolutely not - however, they are welcomed to shoot alongside myself and provide you with some shots that will add to the perfect images I deliver. In wedding photography, proven experience is what you are looking for -

  • You see? That is an excellent question! I make sure that you and I , your vendors and I, my team and I and anyone having a role in your wedding day photographs and schedule flow, are on the same page and clearly understanding what roles each of them play. So I begin with helping you design your wedding day schedule start to finish, I coordinate with your officiant, venue, DJ and ask for any of their requests and I make sure that everyone knows that you are in charge but you don’t have to be coordinating your wedding whle getting married.

  • Well, that depends.

Is the one photographer very experienced?

Is the one photographer an active and proactive photographer?

Is the second photographer a “second shooter” or a vetted photographer?

Is the second photographer going to cost you twice as much?

Are the results of a second photographer going to be clearly noticeable?

Is the second photographer being pushed on you - as in “studio owner is giving his wife a job”?

Is your wedding very small, or private that a second photographer would stick out?

    Interesting questions right?

At the end of the day - most times a second photographer does very little to match or surpass the skill, talent and ability of a great alone photographer - as a matter of fact,. sometimes a second photographer makes things more difficult than they should be.

  • It is not, for several reasons. One being that a photographer relies on one day a week to work and a partial wedding would severely reduce his income when he could be working a full day wedding.

But more importantly, a partial wedding coverage will every time reduce the content of your photos, the emotion will be hard to capture and everything will be done “on a schedule” not allowing for the natural flow of your photography.

Please consider the very minimum to be 1 hour getting ready, one hour ceremony, one hour formal photos and one hour to do your basic reception events.

The additional money you will spend to hire a photographer for the time he needs to tell yours tory, will be worth every penny.
